When bacteria enter the pulp (also known as the inner layer) of the tooth, infection can spread down the root of the tooth, creating an abscess. Sometimes this infection can cause a patient to have an uncomfortable toothache. When this occurs, a consultation with our in-house endodontist (root canal specialist) is recommended to determine the prognosis of root canal therapy.
